The Better Business Bureau of Newfoundland and Labrador is a not for profit organization that was established by the local business community in 1967 for the protection of business, employees and the general public. The Bureau serving Newfoundland & Labrador is one of 14 across Canada.

Our local bureau is guided by a volunteer board of directors who represent member firms. Their role is to govern the Bureau by establishing program priorities, evaluating qualification of  membership applicants and setting the formula and rate of membership dues.

The Better Business Bureau is committed to the principal that fair dealing is good business for both the buyer and the seller. The work of the Better Business Bureau is concentrated into two equally important facets: self-regulatory procedures and the collection and dispersal of information to consumers and business to help them make sound buying decisions.

The Better Business Bureau system offers reports on several million businesses at www.bbb.org and access to nearly 25, 000 BBB OnLine seal holder, plus consumer and business tips at wwwbbbonline.org.

The BBB system is dedicated to fostering fair and honest relationships between business and consumers, instilling consumer confidence and contributing to an ethical business environment, in both the traditional and online marketplaces. The first BBB was founded in 1912, and the network of BBBs and the Council of Better Business Bureaus have grown to become the most recognized advocate for promoting ethical business and advertising practices, providing more than 60 million instances of service to consumers and businesses in 2004. BBBs in the U.S. and Canada are supported by 375, 000 business members throughout North America.

Only through the support of its members can the Better Business Bureau (BBB) continue to exist.
